Roseville roads get upgrades
By Megan Wood

Just as one roadway project in Roseville wraps up, more construction underway causing many Roseville drivers to rethink their routes.

Although the traffic and construction along Cirby Way and Riverside Avenue have cleared up in the last month, many major Roseville streets will undergo resurfacing work in the coming months causing potential delays and additional traffic according to city officials.

Portions of major streets including Foothills Bouleveard, East Roseville Parkway, Eureka Road, Stanford Ranch Road and Old Auburn Road will all receive surface treatment and re-striping.

According to the city’s Web site, resurfacing roadways that are used frequently extends the life of the road and protects against oxidation, erosion and improves skid resistance. If prevention measures were not taken the roadways would begin to deteriorate and would require major reconstruction said city officials.

Some residential areas will also receive street resurfacing come August including portions of the Sierra Gardens, Meadow Oaks and Silverado neighborhoods.

According to Luz Buelna, assistant engineer for the Roseville public works department, the projects are currently being funded by federal funds and stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment act funds. This type of funding is designated to projects that can see completion within 90 days.

The streets will continue to be open to traffic for the duration of the project. In some instances traffic may be reduced to using one lane between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. with potential intersection interruptions between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Depending on weather conditions, materials and equipment availability night work may be necessary.

The resurfacing project is anticipated to be completed November. For more information call the city’s Resurfacing Hotline at 782-7623.

Too bad Roseville doesn't have better project managers. There method of paving in the middle of the day and weekends is a poor one. The taxpayer is secondary to construction practices wich is wrong. They dont even ansswer e-mails when questions are asked about construction and the lenght of time it takes. Darling Ave off Riversidehas been torn up for over 8 months with multiple safety concerns. Yet no one will answer my concerns.
