Roseville West's Austin Hall, shown here in earlier action, was solid on the mound on Wednesday night.

With the pool play round nearly in the books, the four Little Leagues based in the Roseville and Granite Bay communities have seen their all-star teams seize control of the 10/11-year-old District 54 tournament.

With wins in separate games Wednesday night, Maidu and Roseville West locked up their spots in the four-team double-elimination finals with 3-1 records in pool play.

Lakeside (2-0 with games left on Thursday and next Monday) and Woodcreek (2-0 with games Thursday and Friday) have work to do, but as each already owns a win over the second-place team (Maidu and Roseville West) in its group, each team’s advance seems likely.

Austin Hall starred in Roseville West’s 12-2 win over El Dorado Hills South Wednesday night, with a strong pitching performance and a first-inning home run. Chad Alves also played long ball for Roseville West.

“We had some game winning saves on defense,” said Roseville West manager Kirk Hall. “With the based loaded and two outs, Spencer Bracco saved a scorched ground ball on the first base side getting us out of one inning. Brad James also saved a run firing a runner out from center field.”

Bracco came out of the bullpen to close things out for West.

Maidu took care of Gold Rush 14-6 behind a solid performance from Dylan Wilson, who went four frames on the bump. Brandon Bermel and Jacob Monsour each took one inning in relief to help close out the contest.

Maidu got multiple hits from Adam Alvarez, Michael Birch, Bermel, Monsour and Brandon White.

Maidu is a lock to come out of Pool A, with Lakeside looking to lock up a spot from that pool as well. Roseville West will move on from Pool B, which is also the home of Woodcreek.

The winner of Pool A will play the second-place team from B in the double-elimination opener on Tuesday, while the winner of B and the second-place team from B will also lock up that day at Feist Park in Granite Bay.
