Neighborhoods plan town hall meeting to discuss holiday, flu
By Megan Wood The Press Tribune

The Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Association wants residents to be informed and prepared this holiday season.

The RCONA board has organized a community meeting Oct. 29, to discuss safety concerns that are heavy on the minds of residents including fire, crime and flu prevention.

“Going into the holiday season, we want to help inform our citizens and help answer any questions that they may have about certain issues,” said RCONA President Mike Hazen.

Hazen said this town hall meeting marks the first in a series of forums that the RCONA board has envisioned for the upcoming year to keep residents informed of issues concerning them.

“We’d like to continue forward with two or three informational meetings a year on various topics that are of interest to the community,” Hazen said.

The forum will feature presentations on fire prevention by the Roseville Fire Department, holiday shopping tips and crime prevention by Roseville Police and an H1N1 virus presentation by Placer County Health Director Richard Burton.

“Dr. Burton will be presenting brand new information he will have learned from a statewide meeting of all county health officials that he will be attending the week before,” Hazen said. “He will be able to discuss the latest information and answer the questions our residents may have.”

While there will be opportunities to ask questions after each segment, RCONA and the officials leading each discussion ask residents to submit any questions they may have prior to the event.

“It’s a chance for our experts to prepare the information that our residents are most interested in,” Hazen said.

Questions can be e-mailed to Hazen at president@rcona.org.

The town hall public safety meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 29 in the main community meeting room at Mahany Park, 1545 Pleasant Grove Blvd .
