Cops follow the trail -- of candy -- in snack bar ripoff
Call it the case of Hansel and Gretel – Roseville style. Over the Thanksgiving break, burglars broke into the “snack shack” at Silverado Middle School, making off with an unknown amount of candy and sports drinks, according to the Roseville Police Department. But they didn’t stop there. The telltale evidence? A trail of candy wrappers leading from Silverado to Woodcreek High School – where they hit that school’s snack bar. There, the thieves made off with an undetermined amount of sports drinks, said Police Spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther. By the time officers arrived, the suspect or suspects were gone, she said. Because of the trail of candy wrappers between the two Nov. 29 crime scenes, officers suspect a connection. Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to call the Roseville Police Investigation Unit at 774-5070, or Roseville Crime Stoppers at 783-7867. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for information leading to an arrest.
