School bulletin: Roseville High alumni group gets banner money
Scholarships available for high school seniors

RHS alumni group receives banner money

Roseville City Council approved $2,250 in funding for the Roseville High School Centennial Celebration during the Jan. 18 council meeting to pay for banners announcing the celebration in downtown. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the city’s oldest school and the Roseville High School Alumni Association has several activites planned through September. The banners should begin going up in February. Mayor Pauline Roccucci presented the association with the check on Feb. 2.

PG&E seeks scholarship applicants

Pacific Gas and Electric Company recently announced the launch of its Bright Minds Scholarship program, which will award up to $1 million in funds to enable high school, community college and “non-traditional” students to complete their higher education goals. Winners will receive full-ride scholarships up to $30,000 annually, and finalists will receive $2,500 toward their studies. Students must live within PG&E service areas. Applications must be submitted at www.pge.com/brightminds. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 17. Winners will be announced in the spring.

$1,000 SAFE Credit Union scholarships available

SAFE Credit Union will award $1,000 to 10 college-bound high school seniors this spring. Recipients will be chosen based on grade-point average, financial need, community involvement, letters of recommendation and a personal statement. Applications are available at www.safecu.org and at credit union branches. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 12. For more information, call (916) 979-7233.

Sorority hosts Bunco tournament

The Roseville chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Beta Eta is sponsoring its annual Bunco Tournament Scholarship fundraiser with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the game starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Buljan Middle School, 100 Hallissy Drive in Roseville. The suggested donation is $10 and all proceeds benefit the chapter’s scholarship program for high school seniors. Call Jane McNally for tickets at (916) 772-9537.
